SKYBOUND CAPITAL SIGNS UNITED NATIONS SUPPORTED PRINCIPLES FOR RESPONSIBLE INVESTMENT
As part of its ongoing effort to promote sustainable investing across the Group, Skybound Capital Limited (“Skybound Capital”) announced today that it had become a signatory of the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).
By doing so, Skybound Capital has joined more than 3000 other organisations from over 60 countries, representing over US$ 103 trillion in assets under management, that have publicly demonstrated their commitment to responsible investment.
The PRI is recognised as the leading global network for investors committed to integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations into their investment practices and ownership policies aligned with investors’ fiduciary duties.
As per the PRI’s voluntary framework, Skybound Capital has agreed to implement the following six principles across all product offerings:
- We will incorporate ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making processes.
- We will be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.
- We will seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.
- We will promote acceptance and implementation of the principles within the investment industry.
- We will work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the principles.
- We will each report on our activities and progress towards implementing the principles.
The decision to join the PRI follows a year-long process of developing Skybound Capital’s Responsible Investment Policy and ESG analyses of its flagship product offerings. Becoming a signatory of the UN-supported PRI reinforces Skybound Capital’s commitment to integrating sustainability throughout the Group, taking responsibility as an engaged corporate citizen alongside its fiduciary duty.
“Our mission, first and foremost, is to protect and preserve client wealth,” said Group Chairman & Founder Clifford Warren. “We also recognise that relevant and material ESG issues can impact the counterparties’ performance into which we invest and entrust client capital. Consistent with our objective, our process includes an integrated evaluation of factors that support responsible and sustainable investment practices.”
As institutional investors, Skybound Capital feels that it has a duty to act in the best long-term interests of its beneficiaries. They also recognise that applying these Principles may better align investors with broader objectives of society.
PRI CEO Fiona Reynolds said: “We are very pleased to welcome Skybound Capital as a PRI signatory. In joining the PRI, Skybound Capital is recognising the importance of incorporating ESG factors into its investment and ownership decisions and to the increasing importance of sustainable investment to its clients including family offices, private clients, advisors and institutions. We look forward to working with the team.”
